Generally, DBT helps us to first become more aware of and accepting of our emotions, and how those emotions feel in the body. By accepting and noticing our emotions we become better at slowing down our reactions. By slowing down, we give ourselves more options. We can then begin to evaluate and explore the most beneficial ways of approaching ourselves and our relationships. DBT is great for people dealing with anxiety, depression, bipolar personality disorder, and can be used as a structure to help with any other type of treatment.
